KNOXVILLE, IOWA (APRIL 6, 2001) - The ninth annual "Goodyear Masters Classic" 360-cubic-inch sprint car race, set for Friday, June 1, at the Knoxville Raceway, continues to grow as entries have recently been received from former track regular Tommy Scott of Springfield, Ill., rookie-of-the-race candidate Joe Roach of Winter Park, Fla., and Southern Ontario Sprints competitor Dick Mahoney of Newmarket, Ont., Canada. Neither Scott nor Mahoney qualified for the feature last year in their initial Masters Classic efforts on a dry-slick track, so both will be seeking revenge this season. The $3,000-to-win winged sprint car race is open to drivers age fifty and over, and it is held in conjunction with the twelfth annual National Sprint Car Hall of Fame induction weekend in Knoxville. Drivers interested in entering are urged to contact museum director Thomas Schmeh at 641-842-6176 or by e-mail at tschmeh@sprintcarhof.com.
