Selinsgrove preview 2001-08-25

8/19/01, Selinsgrove, PA - Sponsored by Penn-Selin Air Inc. of Selinsgrove, Selinsgrove Speedway will host its final Camera and Autograph night of the season this Saturday, August 25. The three-division show of sprints, late models and pro stocks will pay increased purses to the nights winners courtesy of Penn-Selin Air and general admission for the show will again be just $7.00.

Sprint car drivers will be competing for $1,400 to win in the division^Òs 25-lap feature while the late models will vie for $1,200 and the pro stocks will receive $250 in regular distance events. General admission ticket holders will be provided access to the pit area from 5 until 6 p.m. as part of camera and autograph night.

Owned and operated since 1983 by lifelong Selinsgrove resident and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner Todd Aungst, Penn-Selin Air specializes in aircraft flight instruction. Based at the Penn Valley Airport, Aungst^Òs business offers the training necessary for aspiring pilots to garner their license at an hourly rate.

Currently sported on the wing of sprint car driver Brian Buckwalter^Òs car, 40-year-old Aungst is happy to bring Penn-Selin Air to the speedway for this special night.

^ÓI have been around racing at Selinsgrove for as long as I can remember,^Ô says Aungst. ^ÓI was always at the races when my grandfather, Ace Nolder, brought his parts truck to the track and now through helping Brian and doing this night at the track, I get to play more of a hands on role.^Ô Sporting the Penn-Selin banner, Buckwalter^Òs No. 24 will be on display behind the main grandstand from 5 until 6 p.m. with kids giveaways slated for the autograph session.

In speedway news, the tracks annual Sprint Car Open has been set for September 15. Both the 410 sprints and the weekly 358 divisional sprints will contest 30-lap main events with the supers racing for $3,000 while the 358^Òs vie for $2,000. The Sept. 15 program will be a luck of the draw event for both divisions.

The 2001 Selinsgrove Speedway/Selinsgrove Raceway Park annual awards banquet has been set for Saturday, November 24. Details regarding ticket sales will be forthcoming.
