Short Track Nationals Entries Pour In as Pre-Entry Deadline Approaches

Lonnie Wheatley, LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (October 17, 2006) -- With the Friday, October 20, pre-entry deadline for the upcoming 19th Annual Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires rapidly approaching, more than 50 of the nation's top drivers have already entered the prestigious $15,000 to win event to be held atop I-30 Speedway's high-banked, ¼-mile clay oval October 26-28.

Drivers planning on competing in this year's edition of the Short Track Nationals can save $100 by entering prior to the October 20 deadline. Entries received before the pre-entry deadline are just $150. Entries received after October 20 will be $250. Entry forms may be obtained at http://www.i-30speedway.com/driverentry.htm or by calling the track at 501-455-4567.

Fifty-five official entries from drivers representing 16 different states have already been submitted, with the field for next week's event expected to reach approximately 100 entries.

Among the latest to enter the Short Track Nationals are ASCS Northern Plains Region champion Chuck Swenson of Watertown, SD, I-30 Speedway track champion Justin Sturch of Benton, AR, two-time ASCS Sooner Region champion Kevin Ramey of Fort Worth, TX, Knoxville Raceway regulars Kaley Gharst of Decatur, IL, and Joe Beaver of Knoxville, IA, the Howard brothers (Jan, Dale and Josh) of Byhalia, MS, and West Memphis, AR, hotshoe A.G. Rains.

Also among the latest entries are home track racers Cody Gardner and Jerry Kamer, Memphis area contenders Ernie Ainsworth, Josh Baker and Nathan Brown, Show-Me-Staters Doc Sloan Rob Hartman, Rock Rapids, IA, rep Jody Rosenboom, Illinois racer A.J. Bruns, Sooner shoe Foster Landon, Texas teen Channin Tankersley, South Dakota's Dusty Wasmund and Razorback-turned-Hoosier Jake Simmons.

These drivers join a stout field of entries that already included Tim Kaeding, Jason Johnson, Brian Brown, Jesse Hockett, Dale Blaney, Nick Smith, Garry Lee Maier, Danny Martin, Jr., Sam Hafertepe, Jr., and Sean McClelland among others.

Where: I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, AR).

When: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 26-28, 2006. $15,000 to win the STN finale on October 28, with $1,900 to start the STN championship feature. Rain date is November 2-4.
