Daggett Ready to Defend in the SOD/NRA Race at Limaland
PORTLAND, Mich -- On his first trip to Limaland Motorsports Park, Dustin Daggett took the 2003 Sprints On Dirt/ National Racing Alliance Shootout race. Returning as the 2003 SOD Points Champion this time, Daggett returns as a more experienced, more confident driver.
Not only will Daggett be racing his 360 motor on Friday at Limaland, he will return to Fremont Speedway on Saturday for the Budweiser Shootout. For the Budweiser Shootout, Daggett is bringing his 410 car down to take on the double features.
"Lima was a big win for us," said Daggett from the Daggett Racing shop in Portland, Michigan. "In no way did we expect to win when we went down there last year."
"When we were at Lima last year, the track was a bit rough, but reminded me of some Michigan tracks in many ways. It was racey."
This weekend will mark the second weekend in a row that the drivers of the SOD group have spent in Ohio. Last weekend, they raced in what was an extremely unique race--against the Fremont Speedway 305's.
Finishing second in his heat race, then holding on for a rare sixteenth place finish last weekend, Daggett is open with the fact that they missed the setup. He has been logging many laps around Fremont Speedway in recent weeks, as he also ran there with the All Star Circuit of Champions several weeks ago, making the feature with his 360 motor.
"We think the 410 will hook up better than the 360," added Daggett. "We'll have to be careful on our setup though so we don't spin the tires all night long."
Daggett is carrying a 19-point lead over second place driver John Gall in the Sprints on Dirt point standings. Visit www.dustindaggett.com for more info on Dustin and to follow his progress on the trail to the 2004 Sprints On Dirt point championship!
