ASCS Sooner Region set for Ada & West Siloam

TULSA, Okla. (August 26, 2003) - The always-competitive American Sprint Car Series Sooner Region invades Ada's Oklahoma Sports Park on Saturday night for the second time this season, before making its first ever appearance at 412 Speedway Park in West Siloam Springs, OK, on Sunday night.

Ft. Worth's Kevin Ramey has notched four triumphs in ASCS Sooner Region competition this season through the first eleven events, building a 92 point lead over defending series champion Danny Jennings of Norman, OK, who is still seeking his first series feature win of 2003 with just four events remaining.

Ramey is just one of three Lone Star drivers perched near the top of the Sooner Region point charts in the season long points race. Amarillo's Derek Drown is currently ranked third, with Irving's Brian Harvill, Ramey's teammate, fourth in points. Robert Sellers of Mustang, OK, the 2001 ASCS National Rookie of the Year, rounds out the current top five in points.

Completing the current top ten are Oklahoma City's James Shoun, Tulsa area drivers Roy Larkin, Nick Smith and Stephanie Chappell, and Oklahoma City's Jimmy Taylor.

Approximately 25-30 cars are expected for each night of racing action.

Saturday's racing action atop Ada's 3/8-mile semi-banked Oklahoma Sports Park clay oval is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. Oklahoma Sports Park is located 8.2 miles northwest of State Road 19 on State Road 3-W, northwest of Ada. For more information, contact the track at 580-332-5535.

Sunday's racing action at 412 Speedway Park, the first ever ASCS Sooner Region visit to the 3/8-mile high-banked clay oval, is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. 412 Speedway Park is located 5.5 miles west of the Oklahoma-Arkansas state line in West Siloam Springs on US 412.
