BILLY ALLEY IS "MR. SPRINT CAR" AFTER CLINCHING COX FABRICATION SOUTHERN IOWA SPRINTWEEK POINTS AFTER FRIDAY NIGHT

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 13, 2005) - Nebraska's Billy Alley of Lincoln is officially "Mr. Sprint Car" for 2005 after clinching the fourth annual Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Southern Iowa SprintWeek point title Friday night during the Knoxville Nationals presented by the Midwest Ford Dealers. The Knoxville 360 Nationals champion, who is sponsored by "Speedy" Bill Smith's Speedway Motors, has 269 points and is starting tonight's Knoxville 410 Nationals on the front row. Alley, who will earn $2,500 tonight for claiming the unique iron-man title, cannot be overtaken by current runner-up Jesse Hockett (217 points) in the ten-day point standings between the Oskaloosa and Knoxville dirt tracks. Tonight's championship feature pays 50 SprintWeek points maximum to win and Sunday night's rescheduled non-qualifiers feature does not pay points, thus clinching the title for young Alley.

Second place in the Cox Fabrication Southern Iowa SprintWeek is worth $1,000, and it will be contested between the next fourteen drivers in the standings. A total of 247 different drivers have scored points heading into tonight's Knoxville Nationals finale at the Knoxville Raceway. Past Southern Iowa SprintWeek "Mr. Sprint Car" titlists are Ricky Logan (2002) and Shane Stewart (2003, '04).

UNOFFICIAL TOP TWENTY-FIVE: Billy Alley 269, Jesse Hockett 217, Kerry Madsen 213, Jesse Giannetto 204, Ricky Logan 202, Daryn Pittman 193, Jake Peters 189, Randy Martin 179, Josh Higday 178, Johnny Anderson 171, Brian Brown 171, Zach Chappell 171, Curt Michael 169, Jeff Mitrisin 169, Jonathan Allard 168, Skip Jackson 166, Jason Johnson 156, Tim Kaeding 152, Danny Lasoski 148, Larry Ball, Jr., 145, Johnny Herrera 143, Loren Langerud 136, Bronson Maeschon 135, Joe Beaver 134, Danny Jennings 130.
