ASCS Southern Tour Set for Thunder Valley on Friday

TULSA, Okla. (April 25, 2005) -- After a successful opener this past Saturday night, the stars of the Heintz Performance American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour are ready to tackle Thunder Valley Speedway in Lawndale, NC, this Friday night.

Mike Brecht and fellow Ohio shoe Mike Dussel engaged in a crowd-pleasing duel in Saturday night's opener, with Brecht getting the fans on their feet with a dramatic last lap pass to snare the victory as the American Sprint Car Series made its return to the southeast portion of the United States.

More action of similar quality can be expected this Friday night atop the 4/10-mile semi-banked Thunder Valley Speedway clay oval, as a strong field of cars is expected for the event.

While Brecht and Dussel sit atop the series' early point charts, Scott Young leads the list of regular Southern Tour contenders with a third place ranking. Doug Day, Cody Adams, Mary Anne Williams, Danny Mercy and Butch Pendergrass are among other title contenders.

Gates open at 5:00 p.m. Friday, with racing action slated to get under way at 7:15 p.m.
