TULSA, Okla. (February 20, 2009) -- Gearing up for a second year of winged Sprint Car competition in Arizona, the American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region has released its 2009 slate of events.

Based out of Tucson's USA Raceway, the ASCS Southwest Region is currently scheduled for 13 nights of competition. Ten of those events will take place at USA Raceway with another three cards mixed on atop Manzanita Speedway's 1/3-mile clay oval.

The ASCS Southwest Region will open and close the 2009 campaign at USA Raceway. The season opener is set for Saturday night, March 14, with the series to bring the curtain down on the 2009 season with a two-night stand on November 21-22.

Rick Ziehl of Las Cruces, NM, captured the inaugural ASCS Southwest championship in 2008, edging El Paso's Shawn Sander by just 22 markers for the crown.

Anchored by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
