ASCS Sprints on Dirt Ready for Butler on Friday

TULSA, Okla. (July 25, 2006) -- Ken Mackey will try to add to his Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz point lead as the series invades his home track, Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, MI, this Friday night for the second this season.

Mackey scored one of his three series wins for the season during the series first stop at Butler Motor Speedway on June 23. And despite finishing no better than ninth in the series three most recent outings, Mackey still holds a 54-point edge in the championship points race.

With nine different winners in the series opening thirteen feature events of 2006, Mackey is one of just two drivers to score multiple wins. Steve Irwin has matched Mackey with three triumphs, while Kevin Atkins and Ryan Grubaugh scored wins this past weekend to join Dain Naida, Gregg Dalman, Dustin Daggett, Mike Brecht and Bryan Sebetto as 2006 race single-race winners.

Former series champion Naida and Canadian Kyle Patrick are tied for second in points entering Friday's event, with Gary Fast just eleven more points back in fourth and Dalman another nine markers back in fifth.

Atkins has climbed to sixth in points, with Joe Bares, Grubaugh, Louie Carufel and Davey Brown completing the current top ten.

Friday's action at Butler Motor Speedway gets under way at 8:00 p.m.

Butler Motor Speedway is located in Quincy, MI, off I-69 Exit 16, then 5.1 miles east on Jonesville Road, then 3.5 miles north on Clarendon Road. For more information, contact the track at 517-542-3627.

The 2006 Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz slate consists of approximately 30 nights of racing at fourteen different tracks throughout Michigan, Ohio and Canada.

In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing at nearly 100 tracks throughout 27 different states and Canada in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
