Daggett Claims Crystal ASCS Sprints on Dirt Triumph

CRYSTAL, Mich. (September 2, 2006) -- Dustin Daggett notched his third Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz feature triumph of the season by wiring the field in Saturday night's 25-lap main event at Crystal Motor Speedway.

"It feels good to win again," Daggett commented after the feature. "I wasn't expecting the top of the track to stay as good as it did and that helped us out a bunch."

Starting from the pole position, Daggett outgunned fellow front row starter Ben Rutan at the drop of the green flag and was never headed as he posted his 37th career win aboard the Daggett Racing No. 85 Maxim.

Rutan battled with Tim Norman for second in the early going before securing the position. Rutan tried chasing Daggett through lapped traffic, but could never pull within three car lengths of the two-time series champion.

Behind the lead duo, a torrid battle for the show position ensued between Gregg Dalman, Brett Mann and Norman. The trio swapped the position back and forth multiple times before Dalman secured the third spot. Mann earned the fourth place finish after racing from 17th, with defending series kingpin Norman rounding out the top five.

Tim Allison crossed the stripe sixth, with Nick Mulheim, current series point leader Ken Mackey, Ron Blair and J.R. Stewart completing the top ten.

Heat races for the 34-car field were won by Daggett, Mulheim, Steve Irwin and Kyle Patrick. Blair won the "B" Main.

The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz 2006 tour final point event takes place on Saturday, September 9, at Hartford Speedway Park in Hartford, Michigan. For more information, visit the official ASCS website at www.ascsracing.com.
