DAGGETT SCORES LUCKY ASCS SOD WIN SEVEN AT CRYSTAL

CRYSTAL, Mich. (August 30, 2008) -- Dustin Daggett won his seventh Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz feature event Saturday at Crystal Motor Speedway. Daggett started seventh in the 25-lap main event and quickly moved through the field to take the lead from Joe Bares early on in the main and was never headed.

"I could not drive the car that hard if it wasn't perfect, and I have to thank my crew for that," said Daggett in victory lane. "I also need to thank Phil and Marty Mott for giving me a chance to drive their race car."

Joe Bares and Darren Long started on the front row of the feature event. Bares jumped into the lead with Long on his back bumper. Daggett wasted no time moving up from his seventh starting position cracking the top five on the very first lap. Daggett continued to run the top of the race track slicing through the field before using lapped traffic to move past Long and Bares in one sweep.

Daggett continued to stretch his lead while Bares, Long, and Brett Mann battled for second. Long cleared Bares and set sail after Daggett through lapped traffic.

On lap 14 J.R. Stewart climbed over the wheel of a lapped car and flipped in turn four. Stewrart was uninjured, but had to retire from the event. One lap later Dain Naida came to a stop in turn one with a broken front end to bring out the caution flag.

Even with the restarts Daggett opened up a sizeable advantage he held until the finish. Mann eventually cleared Bares and battled Long for the second spot, racing side by side with Mann nipping Long for the runner up spot. Ryan Grubaugh racing in the Hub Becker owned car after his car was damaged too severely the night before at Winston to be repaired in time for Crystal scored fourth spot while Steve Irwin rounded out the top five.
