HANOVER, PA, 03/20/04 -- Mark Strickler has never won a 600 winged micro sprint race at Trail-Way Speedway, until now.
"It's been a long time coming," were the first words that came from Strickler after he climbed from his Stambaugh's Auto Sales #38 machine. Strickler acknowledged a strong Tim Dietz who came from a fifth place starting position to battle for the lead from the third lap to the very end. With Dietz following Strickler's every move, last week's race winner Jimmy Brookens pulled up on Dietz's rear end, joining in on the quest for the lead. Dietz ended the night in second with Brookens coming in second followed by Shawn Seifert in fourth and Jim Young completing the top five.
Timmy Dietz, fifteenth starter Kevin Bastian, Jason Starr, fourteenth starter Ron Taggart, and pole sitter Brandon Little completed the top ten.
Heat winners for the twenty-seven 600 micro sprints in attendance were won by Jim Young, Jimmy Brookens, and Brandon Little.
After only his second time here at Trail-Way, Brayden Winters pulled him 28W 600 micro sprint into victory lane after dominating the enitre 20-lap race. Winters, a "young gun" of Trail-Way definitely showed some potential the previous weekend, which only prepared him for this week's feature win. Ross Robinson picked up his first top five finish of the 2004 season as he came in second. Following Robinson were Ed Krupa, eighteenth starter Heath Hehnly, and Jim Young completing the top five.
Heat winners for the thrity-five 250 winged micro sprints were on by Joe Trone Jr., Jim Still, Ken Miller, and Derek Steely.
The modified lites were an addition to the program today. Steve White picked up his third Trail-Way Speedway win. Following White across the line were Brian Woodhall, past Trail-Way modified lite winner Tracy Fritter, Bobby Walls III and Eric McKinny.
