Steve Buckwalter gets fifth 250 micro win in 2004; Jimmy Brookens grabs fifth 600 micro win

HANOVER, PA, 05/29/04 -- Steve Buckwalter seems to have found his niche in the 250 winged micro sprint division at Trail-Way Speedway. Alone, in his 2004 season, Buckwalter has achieved several heat and feature wins. As of tonight, Buckwalter can add another feature win in the books as he made it five for the season. Buckwalter passed early race leader Charles French Jr. on the seventh lap and pulled away quickly claiming the win.

In a lap nine caution, front runner, Nick Schlauch Jr. came to a stop on the front stretch bringing out the yellow flag. As the field came to a halt, Scott Rogers came together with Schlauch's car, causing several flips. Joe Hood's car was also part of the front stretch caution. Schlauch was transported to the local hospital for precautionary measures.

Following Buckwalter across the line were outside polesitter Cody Carrah, Eric Eckert, Nathan Melton and sixteenth starter Nik Gower completing the top five.

Heat winners were Darrah, Bob Laughman and Bill Laughman.

To keep consistent with five total wins for the 2004 season, Jimmy Brookens picked up the win in the 20-lap 600 winged micro sprint feature race. Brookens passed leader Sean Campbell on lap seventeen. Jimmy Brookens came into tonight's race third in the points.

Timmy Dietz, who won a makeup feature race from May 15th in the beginning of the night, started off rocky in the heat race as he finished with a DNF. In the consolation race, Dietz qualified into the feature race, starting twenty-third. From second to last, Dietz maneuvered his way through the field to contend for the lead. Dietz passed Shawn Seifert in the remaining laps but found himself out of time to try and take the lead away.

Following Brookens and Dietz across the line were, Shawn Seifert, Brett Schoenly and Sean Campbell. Mooresville, NC's Ryan Greth completed the night sixth followed by current point leader, Tim Dietz, Kevin Bastian, Chad Criswell, and Rick Stief completing the top ten.

Heat winners were Tim Dietz, Campbell and Mark Strickler.

Top three for the makeup race were Timmy Dietz, Ron Taggart, and Seifert.

In 4 cylinder stock car action, Eric Hollenbach picked up his first feature win of the 2004 season. Hollenbach passed leader Scott Rickrode on the twefth lap, claiming the 15-lap feature race.

Completing the top five were Jerry Bard, Scott Rickrode, Ed Hollenbach and Richard Miller.

In the 4 cylinder stock car makeup feature race, Richard Miller grabbed his first career win in the ten lap feature race. Miller led all of the laps.

In scramble car action, Brian Racine picked up his second career win. In starlite stock action, Daryl Hansontook the 4 cylinder win and Arbia Steinour grabbed his first career win in the 6 cylinder division.
