O'Reilly USCS Announces 65 Night - Million Dollar "Outlaw Thunder" Tour
FAYETTEVILLE, GA - The O'Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series, has positioned itself near the forefront of winged sprint car racing by announcing its most ambitious schedule ever for its upcoming ninth season. The 65 night 2005 O'Reilly USCS "Outlaw Thunder" Tour will compete on both dirt and asphalt short tracks.
The season begins on March 18 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL, and completes the second half of a season opening double header on March 19 at Mobile International Speedway in Mobile, AL. The mega tour is presently scheduled to end nine months later at the new South Georgia Motorsports Park in Adel, Georgia on November 12.
Between March and November, the O'Reilly USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour will visit 45 different speedways in eight Southeastern states. The sprawling series schedule has been divided into four sub-series in addition to the National title chase.
This divisional concept allows O'Reilly USCS competitors an opportunity to race for any of three regional titles plus the O'Reilly USCS "Asphalt Thunder" pavement only schedule. Total posted prize money and awards for the O'Reilly USCS 2005 season will be approximately $1-million with nearly $200,000 in cash and contingency awards possible to a single driver.
The new regional divisions include the 16-event O'Reilly USCS Mid-South Thunder Tour scheduled at tracks in Western Alabama, Mississippi plus Middle and West Tennessee. The second regional series is the newly formed O'Reilly USCS Southern Thunder Tour, which includes 31 events scheduled at tracks in Eastern Alabama, Florida, Georgia and East Tennessee.
The O'Reilly USCS Carolina Thunder Tour, formerly called the Sunbelt Thunder Tour, is the third division and will contest a 24-night schedule at tracks in East Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
The twenty event O'Reilly USCS "Asphalt Thunder" Tour will contest its seventh season at fourteen different speedways. The O'Reilly USCS is the only winged sprint car series in the world to contest its Championship on paved and dirt ovals.
"We are really excited about the tremendous growth of the USCS over the past year, and I want to thank all the teams, our staff, our sponsors, and especially the media that has supported our series for the help they have been in taking USCS to another level for 2005," O'Reilly USCS Founder and President Pete Walton said. "It looks like everything is falling in place for a great season. We will be releasing our regional series schedules this week as well, and more details will be available with those releases."
