STENHOUSE BEATS ADAMS AT GARNERTOWN FOR FIRST CAREER O'REILLY USCS WIN

LURAY, TN - The Youth Movement in the O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series continued Saturday night at Garnertown Speedway as 17-year-old Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Olive Branch, MS passed the series winningest driver Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL on lap 24, and then led the rest of the way for his first career O'Reilly USCS victory driving the Fast Effects J&J/Dynotech.

"This is a big win for us, as the competition tonight was pretty tough, and we're planning on running with USCS" Stenhouse said. "I want to dedicate this win to my Grandfather, who couldn't be here tonight because he's in the hospital."

Adams started his Goodson Farms Shaw/Ott on the K&N Filters pole position, and beat outside front row starter Stenhouse into the first turn. Stenhouse stayed right with Adams, and by the halfway point in the race was challenging for the lead. The youngster would drive along side Adams, but the veteran with 77 O'Reilly USCS career wins stayed on the point.

Stenhouse dropped in behind Adams to regroup and take another shot at the point on lap 22. The lead pair raced side-by-side for two laps before Stenhouse took the lead on lap 24. With the win, Stenhouse was the SpeedMart Young Gun of the Race.

Adams took the second spot, and SpeedMart Young Gun 19-year-old Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL finished third in the Martin Structures, Inc. Schnee/ZRE, and move into the second spot in the O'Reilly USCS National point standings behind Adams. Darren Stewart of Bixby, OK was fourth in the Sparks Construction Eagle/Ostrich, and Mike Ward of Memphis, TN rounded out the top five in the AMC Maxim/McCarver.

Ernie Ainsworth of Bartlett, TN finished sixth in the TMI Trailers of W. Memphis, AR Eagle/Dickens, and seventh went to Michael Miller of Tallapoosa, GA in the Crunch Time Express Shaw/Slobuilt. Paul Sides of Memphis, TN was eighth in the C&B Mushrooms Maxim/Gaerte.

Ryan Myers of Eldorado, OH started 21st and finished ninth in the Garrett Farms Domelt/Garret-Myers and was the Huggins Cams Hard Charger of the Race. Myers wrecked his dirt car the night before in Crossville, TN, and his crew burned the midnight oil to convert their asphalt car to run on the clay surface.

Kenny Coke of Olive Branch, MS made his O'Reilly USCS debut of the 2005 season a good one with a tenth-place finish driving the Bost Auto Sales BuiltWiser/Dynotech. There were five SpeedMart Young Guns in the top ten represented by Stenhouse, Martin, Stewart, Miller, and Myers.

Adams won the six-lap Air Flow Research Power Dash, and Martin took the Engler Machine and Tool first 10-lap heat race. Mike McElya of Bartlett, TN won the ButlerBuilt second 10-lap heat race in the Pyles Paving J/Sykes. McElya had a rough night as he brought out the red flag on lap 27 driving off the banking on the outside of turn three to earn the Weld Racing Hard Luck Award.

Stewart won the Koolbeans Trophies third 10-lap heat race, and the youngest SpeedMart Young Gun; 15-year-old Hunter Schuerenberg of Sikeston, MO won the 12-lap B-main in the Minor's Harley-Davidson Maxim/Foxco.

With 35 cars in Crossville, TN on Friday night, and 30 entrants on Saturday night at Garnertown Speedway, another stellar field of O'Reilly USCS winged outlaw sprint cars is expected for Sunday night's show at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, TN.
