(LaMonte, MO) -- The O'Reilly Auto Parts/ American Compressed Steel/ Ditzfeld Transfer/ Isle of Capri/ Hoosier Tires Winged Outlaw Warriors kicked off their 2005 season
Saturday night in LaMonte, MO. There were 39 cars on hand for the series' first ever trip to LA Raceway. The 8-lap heat races were won by Grimes, Martin, Carpenter, and Schrock. The top 3 cars from both of the B-Features transferred into the A-Feature to complete the 22-car field.
The A Feature got under way with Bryan Grimes taking the lead on the first lap. Martin, Schrock, Boyer, & Nichols completed the top 5 after the first lap. Carpenter passed Nichols on the 2nd lap to grab the 5th spot. A few laps later, Rex Combs cracked the top 5 all the way from the 12th starting position. By lap 5, Grimes had a 15-car length lead over Martin. The following lap, Bryan started to incur lapped traffic. Grimes masterfully maneuvered through the traffic and extended his lead. Caution came out on lap 15 when David Brown's machine broke down and then spun out in turn 3. Bryan had no trouble keeping the lead after the restart.
He would win the race by and entire straightaway. Bryan would like to thank McGarry Welding, Slater Designs, Bo Parks Rock Quarry, Tracy Nichols, and Mike's Automotive. Randy Martin finished 2nd in the Diamond Pet Foods/ Weld Wheels/ Hoosier Tire/ Pro Powder Coating/ Wesmar Engines/ Brake Man/ Rod End Supply #14. Eric Schrock overtook Curtis Boyer in the final laps to grab 3rd. He is sponsored by H&S Sales, Hoosier tires, and Weld Wheels. Rex Combs and Curtis Boyer rounded out the top 5. Eric Jobe was tonight's hard charger, moving up 11 spots to finish 9th.
