ST PETERSBURG, FLORIDA (Mar. 24, 2013) – Alex Figge drove his K-PAX Racing Volvo S60 to a second place finish in the first of two races at the St Petersburg Sports Car Challenge on Saturday, leading the first 29 of 34 laps of the race. Figge moved to first place after the splitter of the first place finishing Porsche failed technical inspection and was disqualified.

“This was a tough finish for us,” Figge said. “To qualify on the pole, lead for 29 laps and to get passed on the restart is very frustrating. We needed another lap before the green to get our tires cleaned up. I just pushed wide on the restart. We like to win on the track and not in tech but we’ll take it.”

In the second race Randy Pobst drove his Volvo to a second place finish. “This was a good weekend for the Volvos. We were at the front in both races and feel confident in our cars going to Long Beach.” said Pobst.

The St Petersburg races were the first two of fourteen races this season. The next race is the Grand Prix of Long Beach April 21, 2013.

Volvo and Audi are tied for first place in the manufacturers’ points with 17 points.

Figge is in second place in drivers points with 207 followed by Pobst with 190.
