Pilgrim, Angelelli and Beretta work on setup on Friday

MONTEREY, Calif. -- The Cadillac CTS-V racing team worked to establish a balanced setup on Friday before Round 10 of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The three Cadillacs practiced in clear and warm conditions on Friday in preparation for Saturday's qualifying session. Sunday's race will determine the Manufacturers' Champion for the season; Cadillac is currently tied for first place with Audi.

"I am proud of the team, as usual, for their great effort during practice today," said David Spitzer, program manager for the Cadillac CTS-V race car. "We are still trying to find the best setup here at Laguna Seca, which is a tough place to find grip. This track does not complement our Cadillacs the best but we have a very talented team of engineers trying to improve our cars. I just wish we had a few more practice sessions."

Sunday's race will once again see the appearance of a third Cadillac CTS-V on the track. The third Cadillac has been utilized at five races thus far in 2004, with John Heinricy, Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell piloting the car to great success. Olivier Beretta will drive the #12 Cadillac on Sunday.

"I'm happy because each time we go out we improve the car," said Beretta. "The team has listened to my feedback and they have tried their best to give me what I like. The only problem is the short time we have on the track to test the car. This is the same for everyone but for me it is worse because it seems there are a lot of red flags."

Andy Pilgrim posted the fastest time for Cadillac on Friday.

"I was really happy to get a practice in today," said Pilgrim. "That session equaled the sum total of what we've been working on to get a better setup. The car was very good and I was happy with what the guys did."

Max Angelelli said he is still trying to find the right balance for his car.

"We are struggling with the car right now," said Angelelli. "It is a little bit sad coming from a win to going to the middle of the pack. Right now I don't know how to make it better but we will try."

Team Cadillac will qualify on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. PDT for Sunday afternoon's World Challenge GT race. The race will be televised live on SPEED Channel at 1:00 p.m. PDT.
