LAKEVILLE, Conn. (May 26, 2003) - For the second time this Memorial Day weekend, two Audi RS 6 Competition cars will again lead the 26 car field at the start of today's Mohegan Sun presents the Lime Rock Park Grand Prix. Michael Galati put in a last minute flying lap to clinch the pole position with a time of 1:09.652. Teammate Randy Pobst's time of 1:09.864 will put Randy on the front of the grid next to Michael.

Lime Rock Park, a 1.53 mile track, is considered a difficult race track under good weather conditions. This morning it was less than ideal. Unless, of course, you were driving any car other than an Audi equipped with quattro. Five hours of rain, large puddles at almost every corner and foggy conditions put the traction control system on the Audi's to the test. As expected, the #1 and #2 Audi RS 6's of Champion Racing passed with flying colors.

Rod Bymaster, Manager for Audi Sport North America, enjoyed watching the two Audi's qualify in the rain. And he is thrilled to see Michael get back on top after a frustrating start to the season. "Michael had a real good flyer on the last lap. It's great to see Michael get his confidence back after all the bad luck he's had this year. Both of the drivers feel real comfortable in the car in the rain. That is the advantage of the Audi quattro system. We look forward to racing in the rain."

According to Michael Galati there was a lot of standing water on the race track during this morning's qualifying session. "It was a tough session this morning for a lot of guys. Fortunately the quattro system makes these cars ideal in the rain. Audi and Champion Racing should do pretty well in today's race."

Randy Pobst's concern today is not so much the rain, but the traffic situation. "I feel very comfortable driving the RS 6 in the rain. The quattro system gives me the advantage the other cars don't have. I just hope the other guys drive within their limits."

Round two of this weekend's GT race at Lime Rock Park starts today at 11:15 a.m. EDT. For more information, including live timing, please visit www.world-challenge.com.
