Motor City up next for Miller Racing

Salt Lake City – Miller Racing, based in Salt Lake City, will be making its second and final appearance of the 2013 season with the SCCA Pro Racing Pirelli World Challenge Championship at this weekend’s Belle Isle Grand Prix of Detroit.

On the heels of the team’s first World Challenge event of the season at The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, on May 18-19, where the team fielded the No. 23 Total Care Auto Ford Mustang Boss 302S for team principal Roger Miller in the GTS class and the No. 09 Total Care Auto Ford Fiesta for Braden Miller in the Touring Car B-Spec class, this will be a one-car effort as only the GT and GTS classes will compete, with two 50-minute races scheduled representing Rounds 6 and 7 of the 2013 championship.

The Pirelli World Challenge Championship will be a supporting event to the IZOD Indy Car Series and the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series at this prestigious event. With the race taking place in the hometown of America’s auto industry, all teams with American-made cars will be looking to get their best result of the season. In addition, Detroit is the home of Rehagen Racing, which prepares and fields the No. 23 Total Care Auto Boss 302S, and the team will have lots of friends and supporters at the race.

The circuit is a temporary road course situated on Belle Isle, a 982-acre island situated in the Detroit River. The track is 2.1 miles in length, with 14 corners. As is the case with temporary street circuits, it is lined with unforgiving concrete barriers that make any lapse in concentration or off-course excursion very costly.

“This will be my second visit to Belle Isle,” Roger Miller said, “so there won’t be as much of a learning curve. We had some bad luck here last year, with accidents in both races, and we’d like to reverse that trend this year. I enjoy racing on street circuits, so the game plan is to be cautiously aggressive, stay out of trouble and be there at the finish.

“Everyone wants to do well in Detroit,” he continued, “and we are no exception. It’s a high-profile event for Total Care Auto, who have been so great to work with this year, and as one of 10 Mustangs in the field we want to make our friends at Ford Motor Company and Ford Racing proud.”
