SCCA SPEED World Challenge 2008 Partial Schedule Released
TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 16, 2007) -- Six classic racing venues have been confirmed for the 2008 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge schedule.
For the third year in-a-row, the SPEED GT cars will hit the streets of Long Beach in April with the Champ Car World Series and American Le Mans Series. The following weekend, SPEED Touring Car teams are off to VIRginia International Raceway to join the Rolex Sports Car Series. The 2008 event will mark only the second time in history the series has raced at the dazzling 3.27-mile road course.
In May, both classes reunite for a showdown in the desert at Miller Motorsports Park with the ALMS.
The series returns to historical Watkins Glen International in June with the Rolex Sports Car Series, then joins with ALMS and the Indy Racing League to repeat a highly successful event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in July.
There's a trip north of the border in August, when SCCA SPEED World Challenge makes its 18th appearance at Mosport International Raceway, once again joining ALMS.
The remainder of the schedule will be announced shortly.
