Trois-Rivieres Qualifying report

ARCHER, GALATI ON POLE FOR TROIS-RIVIERES WORLD CHALLENGE TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec, Canada (July 30)-- Bobby Archer, of Ft. Worth Texas, captured the pole for Saturday's 50-minute Speedvision World Challenge GT Championship Round Six race.

ARCHER, GALATI ON POLE FOR TROIS-RIVIERES WORLD CHALLENGE

TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec, Canada (July 30)-- Bobby Archer, of Ft. Worth Texas, captured the pole for Saturday's 50-minute Speedvision World Challenge GT Championship Round Six race. Michael Galati, of Olmstead Township, Ohio, captured the pole for Saturday's Speedvision World Challenge Touring Car Championship Round Five race. Both races are part of Le Grand Prix Player's de Trois-Rivieres. Archer, driving the No. 32 Viper Speed Dodge Viper turned a fastest lap of 1:12.462 (74.819 mph) to take his first pole of the season. "After so many near misses this year it's really great to score Viper's first pole position of the season," said Archer. "I've got alot of laps here and I love street races." Peter Kitchak, of Excelsior, Minn., drove the No. 3 Keewaydin/Toad Hall Racing Porsche 911 RSR to second in the session, with a time of 1:12.894 (74.376 mph). George Biskup, of Naperville, Ill., completed the top-three. Galati, who has dominated the series this year by winning every race, won his second pole of the season in the No. 19 Duplicolor/Red Line.DC Sport Acura Integra R with a time of 1:16.472 (70.896 mph). "I had a spongy brake so I would push for a few laps then had to back off for a couple laps," said Galati. "The dream season just keeps getting better. Trois-Rivieres is one of my favorite places to visit and race." Pierre Kleinubing, of Erexim, Brazil, challenged Galati the entire session, and posted the second-fastest time in the No. 42 RealTime Acura Integra R with a time of 1:16.604 (70.774 mph). Third fastest in the session was Alfred Dupont, of Wilmington, Del., in his European Racing Technologies BMW 328is with a time of 1:16.683 (70.701 mph). The top-three Speedvision Touring Car times were below the old qualifying lap record of 1:17.013 (70.398 mph), set by Alain Chebeir in 1997.
