K-PAX Racing Volvo Finishes in Third Place at Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen, New York (July 3, 2010) - K-PAX Racing completed a successful points weekend with Randy Pobst's third place finish in the World Challenge Grand Prix of Watkins Glen.

Randy started from the number 1 position on the grid in the number 6 K-PAX Racing Volvo S60 and held the lead for the opening 6 laps. He stretched the margin to as much as 3.486 seconds during the opening laps, before the Chevrolet Corvette of Ron Fellows closed the gap and got by Randy on lap 7. Kuno Wittmer passed Randy for second place on lap 9, and they went on to finish in the same order.

"We're real happy to get the points from a third place finish. We almost had a challenge for the Viper in second. He was just a little faster," Randy said. "I found it pretty easy to lead and even pull away the first couple of laps. Then the tires and brakes just got so hot, that I couldn't hold the pace and started slipping back," he explained.

The third place finish extended Randy's lead in driver's championship by 6 points over Kuno Wittmer. He now holds a 53 point advantage over Wittmer and is 138 points ahead of Dino Crescentini.

Volvo's lead in the manufacturer's championship standings is 6 points over Dodge and 8 ahead of Porsche.

Pobst's teammate Andy Pilgrim had a tough weekend in the number 8 K-PAX Racing Volvo. After an engine changed relegated him to a last row starting position in the GT field, a fluid leak forced the number 8 car to retire after just 10 laps.

The World Challenge Grand Prix of Watkins Glen will be broadcast on Versus on Saturday, July 17 from 11:00 p.m - 12:00 a.m. ET.

K-PAX Racing will be back in action on the streets of Toronto, July 17-18. All World Challenge practice sessions, qualifying and races can be followed live at www.world-challenge.com.
