Lee Takes Win At The Beach

Derek Lee from Clinton, North Carolina led every lap of the race at Myrtle Beach Speedway to take the win. He captured the Portobello Pole Position award with a qualifying time of 23.235 to start at the head of the field. Rookie Darren Brown from Ormond Beach, Florida #53 finished second and #00 Trevor Bayne from Knoxville, Tennessee was third. #68 Michael Cooper was fourth and Jordan Napier #04 rounded out the top five finishing positions. Brown took Rookie of the Race honors and Cooper from Pittsboro, North Carolina was the Hard Charger improving his position by seventeen positions.

Lee Clinches Allison Legacy Touring Series Points Championship #29 Derek Lee has sewed up the 2004 Allison Legacy Points Championship with his Myrtle Beach win on Saturday, October 23rd. Lee, from Clinton, North Carolina has 1532 points. Scott Lail, Lexington, NC is in the second spot with 1366 points. He is followed by Mike Hampton from Ft. Mill, SC who has 1365 points, only 1 point behind. Fourth in the points chase is 13 year old Trevor Bayne from Knoxville, TN with 1313 points and Michael Cooper, Pittsboro, NC is fifth with 1239. One more race is on slate for the Touring Series this season. The Basciani Mushroom Farms 200 will be at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, North Carolina on Saturday, November 13th.
