V8 Stock Cars - Oran Park - Qualifying

Miedecke master again

After emphatically winning the inaugural V8 Stock Car series in 2001, Andrew Miedecke is set to string together a back-to-back series win after dominating practice for tomorrow's first round. Driving the Chev Monte Carlo he won with last year, Miedecke was well ahead of his rivals.

The under funded Pontiac of Mark Harrison showed competitive form last year and will start on the front row in position two. Chris Templer is backing up Miedecke in the second of the team's Chevs and will start on the second row along with Ford Thunderbird driver Dick Howe.

The Fireworks King Tony Southwell was off his best and could only manage fifth in his Chev but was able to outpace the Ford Thunderbirds of Dean Wanless and Sam Dale, as well as Southwell's new recruit Duncan Bain.
