AUSCAR: V8 Stock Car round two Mallala qualifying

Miedecke dominates V8 stockers in qualifying.

Road circuit experience was a telling factor as the skilled South Australian Andrew Miedecke streeted his rivals in qualifying for round two of the V8 Stock Car series at his home track of Mallala Raceway.

With a touring car and open wheeler background Miedecke relished on picturesque circuit and circulated in a best time of 1 minute 13.3260 seconds, over a second under his own lap record.

The nearest rival to Miedecke's Chev Monte Carlo was the Ford Thunderbird of Dean Wanless who will start from the outside of the front row.

Replished in the colours of Quickpages, the Chev of Tony Southwell out-pointed Miedecke's team mate Chris Templer for third, a goal he had set for himself after some contact between the pair at Oran Park's opening round.

Next was Southwell's team mate Duncan Bain in another Monte Carlo who was able to lap quicker than the Fords of Richard Howe and Martin Borrows.

It was a disappointing session for NSW's Mark Harrison who was out to impress new sponsors Fireworks King. "I'm sure we would have snuck into the 14 second bracket but the Pontiac broke its gearbox in the early morning practice session," he reflected.
