Aspiring Race Car Driver Chris Fowler to Debut at Madison International Speedway July 17, 2004; Pledges to Donate Ten Percent of Winnings to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

(Jacksonville, Fla. - July 13, 2004) - Chris Fowler of Chris Fowler Racing will make his debut race in a stock car on Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the American Speed Association's National Tour during the BFGoodrich Tires 250 at Madison International Speedway.

Fowler, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., will race alongside Chad Wood of Madison-based Wood Brothers Racing. Fowler will drive the number 42 car.

Fowler's previous racing record includes 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place finishes in the 2002-03 Skip Barber Formula Dodge Southern Series. His sponsors include Chiron Corporation (www.chiron.com), Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (www.inspirepharm.com), Parion Sciences (www.parion.com) and Impact Racing (www.impactraceproducts.com).

Fowler was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) at six months old, and at age 29, is determined to become a major force in professional racing.

CF is a genetic disease that affects approximately 30,000 people in the United States. A defective gene causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus that leads to chronic and life-threatening lung infections and impairs digestion.

Fowler has pledged to donate ten percent of his race winnings to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, headquartered in Bethesda, Md., to support research towards a cure for CF.

"I have waited my entire life for this moment, and to finally have the opportunity to race is amazing. I am so very thankful to my sponsors, supporters and Woods Brothers Racing for making this possible. I'm planning for a big finish and look forward to donating money to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help find a cure for CF," Fowler said.

The 250 lap race is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. CST at Madison International Speedway, near Madison, Wis. The American Speed Association is based in Pendleton, Ind., and has offered racing programs since 1968, including the ASA National Tour, ASA Late Model Series, several regional series, and the ASA Member Track programs.
