SAMSULA, FLORIDA - The FASCAR Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series 100 will run on Orlando Speedworld in Bithlo, FL on Friday night in race two of a 12 race Goodyear schedule for 2002.

Friday pit gates open at 2 p.m. at Orlando Speedworld and grandstands at 6 p.m. Racing begins at 8 p.m. on the three-eighths mile high-banked oval. Time trials are scheduled for 6 p.m.

Ticket prices are $15 and children under 12 are free. Pit prices are $25.

Jason Boyd of Orlando, FL won the inaugural Goodyear Challenge Series race at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, FL on Feb. 23 and he has posted 13 straight special event wins in 2002 in his Classic Corvette's Chevrolet.

Ready to put a tight squeeze on Boyd are second and third place USA Int'l Speedway finishers Mike Hovis of Ft. Myers, FL in his Budweiser Chevrolet and Jerry Symons of New Smyrna, FL in his Kelly Roofing Chevrolet.

Also sure to be in the hunt are Larry Osteen of Clermont, FL and former MLB Boston Red Sox player Mike Greenwell of Alva, FL.

Catching the quick and elusive Boyd is sure to be a challenge though. Boyd also won nine Late Model races at New Smyrna Speedway during the 36th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing in 2002.

Boyd's winning efforts at New Smyrna enabled him to record racing history in New Smyrna Speedway history books as he bested an eight straight win effort recorded by the late Modified driving great Richie Evans.

Boyd's four other 2002 wins came at USA.

Other FASCAR Divisions will also compete Friday night except for Super Late Models.

Future Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series 2002 events will be held at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, FL, New Smyrna Speedway in Samsula, FL, Orlando Speedworld in Bithlo, FL, and Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, FL.

Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series rules can be seen on the www.newsmyrnaspeedway.com website.
