May 3rd, 2000, St. Augustine, FL - Speedway officials announced today the purse structure for the "Mod Squad" event on Saturday, May 27th at Florida Speed Park, featuring the Rick's Muffler Modified series.

The 50 lap special feature will pay $1,500 to win, $1,000 for 2nd place and $750 for 3rd. There will be a $50 advance entry fee, $75 at the gate on raceday.

"This will be a great opportunity for our local modified drivers, who will have a home track advantage over some of the top modified drivers throughout the state of Florida that this race will attract," says speedway manager Louis Smith.

The Mod Squad event is the first of six special races scheduled throughout the summer featuring the local divisions that compete in the ARA Weekly Racing Series at the fast half mile speedway. The following week is a special 100 lap Sportsman event. Details on that and other special division races will follow shortly.

"Our weekly division races have been exceptional this year," says Smith. "It's great for the drivers in each of these divisions to have a special event race that they can all shoot for. Special events traditionally bring in more outside competition to the division, making the races much more challenging."

The Mod Squad show will be sanctioned by the American Racing Association and will count towards drivers' ARA and division points.
