Hickory Motor Speedway preview

Allison Legacy "Greg Ward Memorial 300" Race at Hickory Motor Speedway.

Three hundred laps of old fashioned racing is on tap at the historical Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina for the Allison Legacy cars this weekend on Sunday, November 10th. The 300 lap race will be run in three one hundred lap segments. As many as ten different states will be represented as over forty drivers are expected from as far away as California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, Wisconsin and Florida and Maine. NASCAR Legends will be on hand including Donnie Allison. National Points Leader eighteen year old Chad McCumbee from Supply, North Carolina will be a tough contender for both the pole position and to win the race. McCumbee has won five National Series races this year and captured the Pole Position for seven National Events. Winner of the race last year was Mark Howard from Randleman, North Carolina.

The 300 lap World Classic Race was renamed the Greg Ward Memorial Race in memory of one of our regular Legacy Series drivers who succumbed to cancer last November on the weekend of the 300 lap event.

Grandstands open Saturday at 11:00 a.m. for Allison Legacy Car practice. Qualifying will begin at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free on Saturday. Racing on Sunday begins at 2:00 p.m. Admission is $ 5.00. Seniors & Children 6- 12 is $3.00 and under 6 yrs of age is free.
