LM: Greg Taylor to run partial schedule

Outlaw Super Late Model driver, Greg Taylor to run a partial ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts schedule in 2005.

The ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts continues to attract many of the top stars from various forms of short track racing offered in the United States. Perhaps no other form of racing has generated more interest in the ASA Late Model Series more so, than the wedge type, Outlaw Super Late Models, commonly seen in Michigan, as well as Ohio and Northern Indiana. One of the top stars in the Central Michigan region in these types of cars has announced his plans for a limited schedule with the ASA Late Model Series in 2005, as Greg Taylor will join the series at least part-time with his sights set on a full run for the title in 2006.

"We plan to run about half the ASA Late Model races to prepare our team for a full run at the championship in 2006." Said Taylor, as he talked about his plans for the upcoming season. ""We want to hit the bigger tracks on the 2005 series schedule, tracks we're familiar with from our old Iceman Series and CRA days, mainly to get comfortable again in a template car, get used to the crate engine package and to get a good feel for the series." Added Taylor. "We're not running for points anywhere this season, but the Winner's Circle program for being at half the ASA shows doesn't hurt either!" Continued the Brooklyn, Michigan pilot,

Greg also plans on running his Outlaw bodied Super Late Model as well in select shows. "We're going to run the Outlaw car mostly at the bigger shows in the area, some shows at Owosso (MI) Speedway, a few of them Dixie Cup events at Dixie (MI) Motor Speedway, we'll be trying to hit some new tracks too. We'll travel around a bit, do some Main Event stuff; basically hit the big shows around the Midwest." Ended Taylor. During the 2004 season, he finished ninth in Super Late Model points at Owosso MI with one feature win. He also recorded one feature win at near-by Calhoun County (MI) Speedway as well, site of race number two on the 2005 ASA Late Model Series schedule, the Snap-On Tools 100 Presented by Q106 FM Radio on Saturday May 14th.

In 2003, Taylor finished second in the final point standings at Owosso MI to eventual track champion, Dan Krzywosinski. Greg was also a former competitor with the Iceman Super Car Series from 1995-1999, he was a consistent top 10 finisher in the series' points standings during that time. He has also seen time in the CRA Super Series as well. Taylor is also a former Modified champion at Michigan Ideal Speedway in 1994. (Now Calhoun County Speedway).
