Miller Wins ASA ACTIONLINE 300 at Montgomery Motor Speedway
Last Year's Point Runner-Up Collects 16th Career Win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (May 7, 2000) -- On a very hot and humid day in Montgomery, Ala., American Speed Association veteran Mike Miller of Woodstock, Ga. won his first race of the 2000 ASA ACDelco Series season, taking the checkers in the ACTIONLINE 300 at Montgo mery Motor Speedway. It was Miller's first win since August 1999, when he took his second straight win at Berlin Speedway in Berlin, Mich.

"The car was great with the Vortec engine and BFGoodrich Radial Tires," said Miller, driving the Jani-King Pontiac. "We felt we were close the last two races and breaking through today puts us squarely in the chase going to a track (Nashville Speedway USA) where I have won before and I love to race at."

Gary St. Amant of Ohio, who has led the 2000 ASA National Points chase from the season opening event, came with his second straight runner-up finish and third podium finish of the year. St. Amant, who led the most laps of the afternoon with 118 circuits, finished just 0.726 seconds behind Miller. Wisconsin's Tim Sauter collected his second podium finish of the year, coming in third place. The 1999 ASA National Champion never lead, avoiding the eight caution flags.

Miller led the final 21 laps en route to collecting $15,900 of the $200,950 purse. Michigan's Mike Eddy and Wisconsin's Kevin Cywinski rounded out the top-five respectively. Pole-sitter Mike Garvey lead the first 72 laps, later suffering an accident on lap 176.

St. Amant still holds a 102-point lead over Brandon Sperling heading into the May 21 event at Nashville Speedway USA. The ASA ACDelco Series returns for the BFGoodrich Tires 300. The event will take the green at 3 p.m. (Eastern) and will be telecast live on TNN Sports.
