Shampine Memorial rained out 3 consecutive weeks!
Oswego, NY . . . For the third week in a row, the Jim Shampine Memorial sponsored by A&P Auto and Sam's Auto Body has been rained out and will not be rescheduled. The National Weather Service calls for intermittent showers in the Oswego area throughout the day and with the rain already experienced in CNY the parking and infield areas are saturated.
This is the first time in the history of Oswego Speedway that an event has been rained out on three consecutive weekends. The "Memorial Weekend" event cannot be moved to Saturday, June 14th as the Lucas Oil ISMA Super Circuit will be performing at Toledo (OH) Speedway on Friday, June 13th and Sandusky (OH) Speedway on Saturday, June 14th.
If the weatherman cooperates, Oswego has scheduled the Wendy's Kids Day for Saturday, June 14th. It will be a regular program for the supermodified, limited supers and super stocks. Kids will be admitted for just $.25 and the first 300 kids will receive pocket binoculars. During intermission, drivers from all three divisions will bring their cars down to the front straightaway of the Speedway and kids along with their parents will be allowed to go onto the track to get autographs from their favorite drivers.
Oswego will continue with its afternoon format with gates opening at noon and the first race set to get underway at 2 pm. There will be a full program of qualifiers plus a 45 lap supermodified feature, 25 lap limited super feature and a 20 lap super stock main. All promotional passes good for Saturday, June 7th will be honored on Saturday, June 14th. Anyone who purchased a Jim Shampine Memorial grandstand ticket at the Box Office will receive a rain ticket or credit good for the dollar value of that ticket which can be used for a future race.
