As track personal arrived at the speedway Sunday Afternoon for the last points race of the season conditions did not look to be very promising, with gray skies and a brief shower, racing seemed like it may not get underway. However, the weather held off and the racing at Pocono Mountain Speedway was exciting as usual. When the Modifieds took to the track, it also seemed like racing would not get underway. As the full field of 20 cars entered turn one, the third place car of Jim Hauser Jr. and the second place car of Matt Hirshman made contact sending both cars into the outside retaining wall, with the rest of the field entering the turn in a tight pack this incident created havoc on the speedway; collecting the cars of Russ Frantz, Sean Kehley, Don Wagner, John Markovic, Ed Gilligan, Terry Markovic, Ike Iddings, Mike Adams, Adam Horwith, and Matt Wentz. When the green flag flew once again racing would soon halt; as fate would repeat itself again entering turn one as the cars of Steve Mooney and Chris Ammon made contact sending Mooney into the turn one wall. As racing tried to resume once again the car of Matt Wentz spun entering turn one, making hard contact with the foam retaining wall, Wentz would retire from the race. The field finally was able to begin racing after forth attempt at going green, Brain DeFebo moved into the early lead but soon would be passed by local hot shoe Chuck Schartzer driving the Vreeland Harley Davidson #34 modified. Racing would remain under green until caution flew on lap 13 for Russ Frantz spinning on the front stretch. When racing resumed Chuck Schartzer found himself building a commanding lead on the field, Schartzer who could not be touched went on to score his second victory of the season at the speedway followed by Brian DeFebo, Jerry Woody, Ike Iddings, and Tim Santee rounding out the top 5. In a post race interview Chuck Schartzer said he would like to thank Dick and Robert Barney for helping him out with the fine tuning of his car after he purchased the famed red #14 driven by such asphalt racing stars as Ken Woolley Jr., John Blewett, and Tony Siscone.

The Late Models took to the speedway for their final points race of the season, with Barry Gommer locking up the championship the week before he had one goal on his mind and that was to win. As in the Modifieds the drop of the green would be for not as the cars of Mike Radocha Jr., Mike Radocha Sr., Dwayne Mory, Alan Moyer, and Todd Cooper made contact entering turn 3. When racing resumed Barry Gommer found himself outside the front row and moved quickly into the lead, this would not be an easy victory for Gommer though as he had the D & B Towing sponsored car of Barry Callavini hot on his trail. Barry Gommer went on to take the victory followed by Callavini, Alan Moyer, Mike Radocha Jr. and Mike Radocha Sr.

Local favorite, Joe Hoffman, went on to score the victory in the Pro Stock division followed by Bradley Brown, Mike Higgins, Albert Kerns, and Alan Moyer rounding out the top 5.

Bruce Long finished out the Street Stock season just as he started it reaching victory lane for the 11th time this season, Donny Hartzell, Chris Burge, Hamilton, and Rich Spaide rounded out the top 5.

Wilson Reakes reached victory lane for the second time this season in the factory stock division followed by Paul Frantz, Mark Corbisiero, Sean Burd, and Steve Distler rounded out the top 5.

The next action for Pocono Mountain Speedway is "The King of the Mountain" Weekend October 14th and 15th. Divisions in action include Race Trucks, Street Stocks, Late Models, and Modifieds.
