Oswego, NY - What seems to have been an endless winter appears to have finally met its demise and racing looms in the near future. The ISMA-Lucas Oil Supermodified Series is just days away from the opening weekend of its 17-race schedule. For the first time in recent memory, there will be two trips to Star Speedway for ISMA, the first coming on Saturday, May 3, which will be the series' opener. Heading down the pike on Sunday, May 4, the second leg of the opening twinbill will be at Seekonk Speedway, also the first of two trips to that third-mile this season.

Last year "Liquid" Lou Cicconi stormed to victory at both the opening venues by taking features at Lee USA and Seekonk. Lou went on to finish fourth in the 2002 ISMA point standings.

Star Speedway as aforementioned will be the first up on the slate with a 75-lapper paying $3,000 to win. Grandstands at that Epping, NH quarter-mile open at approximately noon with the first heat for the ISMA-Lucas Oil supers getting the flag at 5 pm. Star Speedway is always an exciting venue for the winged warriors of speed, with the Star Classic existing for years as one of the most prestigious events to win in supermodified racing. This year the Star Classic, incidentally, will pay $10,000-to-win. This May event will be a great time to get the feel of the famed New Hampshire oval in preparation for that September 200.

Sunday, another 75-lap go awaits at Seekonk with that first place payday checking in at $3,200. Grandstands open at Seekonk at 11:00 am with the first heat going off at 1:00 pm. Seekonk, with its banked-bowl shape, surrounded by cement walls, has been the spot of some great racing for the supers and this year should be no exception. Last year Lou Cicconi fought off Dave McKnight and 2002 ISMA champ Russ Wood for the exciting victory.

And, kids (17 and under), don't forget to sign up for that free Haro Stunt Bike to be given away at each race. Enter at the ISMA trailer for a chance to take home a great bike after a day of great racing!

For further information check the websites for Star, Seekonk or ISMA or call Star at (603) 679-5306 or Seekonk at (508) 326-9959. Star is located just off Rt. 125 on Rt. 27 in Epping, NH. Seekonk is on Fall River Ave, exit 114A off I-95/US6/US44 in Seekonk, Mass. The snow and ice are gone...it's definitely time to go racing!
