FORT WORTH-DALLAS (July 12, 2001) - Ronnie Hall kept winning while Michael Umscheid started a new win streak at Lil' Texas Motor Speedway during the Thursday Night Stampede's Legends and Bandolero program.
Hall's 20-lap triumph in the Legends Masters feature was his 15th victory out of the last 16 races. Only a non-finish in the second Thursday Night Stampede race of the summer broke up the streak. Umscheid, who suffered his first Legends Pro Division loss since May at Houston last weekend, started another streak by taking his fourth straight Stampede win.
Andrew Lewis visited his first Stampede victory lane by topping the 20-lap Legends Semi Pro A main event while Steven Fleming garnered his second Stampede Legends Semi Pro B victory. Third Stampede victories were earned by Dean Abbey (Bandolero Bandits) and Brent Seeley (Bandolero Young Guns).
Hall passed Les Bunte on the third lap of the Masters headliner and beat Bunte to the checkered flag by three car lengths. Robert Merino claimed third.
Ryan Lawler took command from Umscheid on the second trip around the one-fifth mile asphalt oval in the Legends Pro feature. Lawler led a five-car battle for the lead until Umscheid got around in turn three on lap 17. Umscheid led to the finish and bested Kelly Vinson by five car lengths. Lawler finished third.
Lewis and Scott Evans battled side-by-side for the lead twice in the Legends Semi Pro A feature before Lewis took control on the tenth lap and won over Thomas Tucker and Gene Conley. Fleming took the Legends Semi Pro B lead on the third lap and defeated Billy Potts and Cory Jacobs.
Abbey led only the final lap of the Bandolero Bandits 15-lap run to beat Mark Webb who set the pace the opening 14 circuits. Jack Merino took third. Seeley led the Bandolero Young Guns 15-lap feature the entire distance to defeat Kevin Trammell and Mark Merino.
Charlie Calhoun from Memories won the evening's Legends Radio Race.
