FORT WORTH-DALLAS (July 8, 2004) -- Tim McDonald broke Buddy Goudy's season-long stranglehold on the Thunder Roadster division to win his first career Thursday Night Stampede feature race at Lil' Texas Motor Speedway.

Other winners in the third week of competition in the summer series included Jared Whitton (Legends Pro), Don Barnard (Legends Masters), John Gottsacker (Legends Semi-Pro), Jordan Webb (Bandolero Bandits) and Mark Webb (Bandolero Young Guns).

Goudy, the INEX Thunder Roadster national point leader, had won 18 of 19 previous 2004 Thunder Roadster feature events throughout Texas. Thursday was McDonald's night as he took the lead on the race's seventh lap and held on to defeat Randy Miles.

Whitton won his second Stampede Legends Pro feature after inheriting the lead on lap seven from Derek Shumaker who fell out with ignition troubles. North Carolina's Josh Waring took second over Merino brothers Scott and Mark.

Barnard broke Robert Merino's two-race Legends Masters win streak with a half-straightaway victory over Mike Nowels. Merino spun on the opening lap of the race but recovered to finish sixth.

INEX Legends Semi-Pro national point leader Gottsacker won his second Stampede race of the summer in wire-to-wire fashion in the 20-lapper. Gottsacker defeated former Bandolero rival Dean Abbey and North Carolinian Mark Whittley.

The Webbs continued their perfect Thursday Night Stampede seasons. Jordan bested INEX Bandolero Bandits national point leader Steven Abbey and Taylor McNeil while Mark topped Nathan Wilson and Justin Long in the Bandolero Young Guns feature.

The midpoint of the Thursday Night Stampede season will be Thursday, July 15 as the series stages another event at Lil' Texas Motor Speedway. The first race will get the green flag at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is just $5 with children 10 and under admitted free. For more information call (817) 255-6000.
