Kluever Says Madison's Victory Lane Has His Name on It ASA Driver Is Itching to Get Back Racing Again, Especially at Home- Track

Marshall, WI (July 13, 2004) - Please excuse Todd Kluever if he is a little overjoyed and confident heading into this weekend's BFGoodrich Tires 250 at Madison International Raceway in Wisconsin; he has good reason to be.

"I think this could be the weekend," said Kluever, who sits 15th in the ASA point standings after six events. "I think this is going to be the weekend we break out. I have a good feeling about the Madison race. If we are ever going to win one of these ASA shows, I think it will be this weekend. I'm not trying to sound cocky, but I'm tired of not winning. This race team is good enough that we should have already won a couple of races by now. So I'm ready. I've got a new attitude now."

And why shouldn't be he confident. Kluever knows his way around Madison. He has raced there most of his life. In 2001, he was the Madison track champion in the Late Model division. He's raced there no less than five times already in Late Model competition this year and has nearly won three of those events.

"Madison is my home track. It is the one place that I know I have an advantage on most of these guys. Sure some of them have been coming here for years too, but I used to run this place week after week. I think that will give me some sort of advantage over them."

It's been well over a month since Kluever sat behind the wheel of his #55 Sign-1-1/ SK Hand Tools ASA ride, but Kluever hasn't lost his knack for driving. In the time off, he hasn't been just sitting idle; he has been busy racing Gerry Gunderman's #40 ASA Late Model. He even won the ASA Late Model Series event Grundy County Speedway (IL) last month.

"It was nice to get into Victory Lane, but that just made me want to get there even more in the ASA car. I know we can do it and that is why we are taking a different approach. It is time to step it up now. We've been working really hard at getting this team to where it is now, but we need to take that last step and that last step is getting a win.

"We will have plenty of fans there too," continued Kluever, who turned 26 last week. That is why I want to do it here. Even without the television and without this and that; I want to win and I want to win at Madison. That would be so huge I couldn't even begin to describe it."

Kluever will take his car to the Dells Motor Speedway on Thursday to shake it down and get all of the bugs worked out of it before heading off to Madison for the Saturday night event.

In the meantime though, Kluever will also compete in the annual Miller Lite Slinger Nationals at Slinger Super Speedway on Tuesday, July 13th.

"We've run up at Slinger a couple of times this year and gotten our butts kicked, but I think things will be different this time. We've made some changes to the car and I think we are going to have as good a shot to win there as anyone. Plus, when I get to race against Matt (Kenseth, the defending NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion), he always seems to bring out the best in me."
