Steven Christian walks away with Peach State crown.

Jefferson, GA-- Steven Christian picked up his third career USAR Hooters ProCup Victory Saturday night, during the running of the Miller Lite 250 presented by Jennie-O Turkey Store at a damp Peach State Speedway. Christian, the 1999 Miller Lite Rookie of the Year, has also picked up wins at USA International Speedway and Montgomery Motor Speedway during his time with the Series.

Rain was the major battle of the day, forcing practice to a one hour session. Jason Sarvis captured the Buffalo Nickel Buffalo Burgers Pole Award by setting a fast time of 18.997 seconds around the half-mile Peach State oval. Defending Series champion, Bobby Gill started on the outside of the front row, his highest starting position of the 2002 season. Current USAR Northern Division Point leader, Brian Ross also paid a visit to the Jefferson, GA track, where he started the race in sixth position.

"The last time I ran at this track was at least 20 years ago in a late model car. We will have to see how us and the car reacts to this race," said Ross before the teams were allowed to roll out onto the track for practice. The race featured six caution flags for 44 laps, with the biggest incident of the evening on lap 67, when Don Satterfield, Ronnie Davidson, Mike Williams, and Toby Robertson spun simultaneously exiting turn three.

On lap 174, the rain began to fall, resulting in an early conclusion to the Miller Lite 250 presented by Jennie-O Turkey Store.

"Obviously, we would have finished the race," said Christian. "We had a winning car and felt we could have stayed out front to the end, but we'll take this win however we get it. The crew did an awesome job on the pit stop and got us back out in good position. They've worked hard all year and deserve this win."

Sarvis collected second position, Ross collected third, while Gill, and Shane Huffman completed the top-five positions.

Along with the win, Christian received the Southern Pride Lap Leader Award, leading 99 of 174 laps. The #16 Lucas Oil team also received the CV Products Engine of the Race Award. Toby Robertson collected the Lucas Oil Products Halfway Leader Award. Robertson also collected the W.J. Plemons Investment Hard Charger Award. Ross captured the Miller Lite Rookie of the Race Award.

The next race for the USAR Hooters ProCup Southern Division will be at Hickory Motor Speedway for the running of the Naturally Fresh Foods 250 presented by Galaxy Foods on Saturday, July 27.
