Rogers Wins 2 Straight, 2 at Winchester Speedway

Winchester, Ind. (June 7, 2009) -- Clay Rogers dominated Saturday night's Lucas Oil 200 at the half-mile Winchester Speedway, leading all but six laps, to claim his second straight USARacing Pro Cup Series victory and his second at the fast, high-banked track.

Rogers, who started from the pole, led 194 of the 200 laps in his C&C Boiler Sales & Service Chevy.

"I can't describe it, I knew we had a good race car, but I didn't think it would be that dominant," an excited Rogers said. "I just can't say enough about the guys working on the race car; they just do a great job. They bring a beautiful race car to the track every week and I just sit behind the steering wheel and hold it.

"That thing was on a rail tonight. That is by far the best car I've had here, this being my third trip here. (It) might be one of the best cars we've ever had in my career. I'm pretty impressed with the effort the guys put forth tonight."

With only four cars in the 21-car field finishing on the lead lap, J.P. Morgan, who placed second, walked away with a smile and a sigh of relief. Morgan raced in the top five throughout the event.

"The track was really cool to begin with when we were practicing and qualifying, but the racing was a lot of fun out there. It's really just throttle down. It's kind of old school racing."

Caleb Holman, who started sixth, also produced a solid race. He ran in the top six throughout the evening before having to settle for third. Despite not having the fastest car in the field, Holman said he was pleased with his debut at the tough Winchester Speedway.

"We never had a great, great car," Holman said about his Food Country USA Chevrolet Monte Carlo. "It wasn't bad, obviously, since we were one of the few to stay on the lead lap. I thought we made good calls as far as when we pitted.

"Those tires were tight when we qualified and tight when we ran them in the race. It surprised the heck out of me they were tight again, so we just road around tight the last couple laps there; just did all I could do. It's tough to race at this track. Just riding around by yourself is hard, much less trying to race somebody else. It's just so hard to get around somebody."

Rogers averaged 107.774 mph in the race that was slowed for just 18 laps by three caution periods.

Drew Herring, who was the points leader entering the race, was responsible for one of the yellow flags when he cut a tire on some debris and smacked the wall.

"The left front started wearing out and it was chattering so badly. I could hardly see in the turns and my brakes were gone," explained Herring, driver of the BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors/Hogslat Ford Fusion. "It was just one of those days, I'm ready to get it over with, ready to get away from this place. I've enjoyed it, but I'm ready to go. We've got Myrtle Beach coming up, so we will go home, fix this thing up, get it all spiffed up and see if we can't turn this thing around."
