Since 2010, Super Formula seasons have traditionally been wrapped up with a double-header, with the series awarding bonus points for winners of such races.
However, with WTCR joining the Super Formula bill this year, the organisers have been forced to alter the schedule.
This means the 2018 season will merely comprise six races, excluding the Autopolis round that was cancelled due to treacherous weather conditions.
The distance for the Suzuka finale remains unclear, with an announcement expected in the run up to the race.
2019 calendar announced
Super Formula also announced a largely unchanged calendar for 2019, with seven rounds split across six venues.
Suzuka will once again host the curtain opener from April 20-21, with the second round to be held at Autopolis from May 18-19.
Sugo has been pushed forward a month to June 22-23 after complaints from certain drivers about a packed month of May, which comprised four Super Formula and Super GT races in 2018.
The Fuji and Motegi events will take place on July 13-14 and August 17-18 respectively, while Okayama will again occupy its new September slot.
Suzuka will host the title decider on October 26-27, the final weekend of the month.
