Lyons Even Quicker As Sun Sets on JGTC Cal Speedway Practice
FONTANA, Calif. (Dec. 17, 2004) -- Richard Lyons continued to show the way in practice for Saturday's All-Japan GT Championship (JGTC) GT Live race at California Speedway. After leading afternoon practice, the Briton turned the fastest lap of the day after the sun set in his No. 1 Xanavi/NISMO Nissan 350 Z Turbo.
Lyons has company at the front of the GT500 class though, as Andre Lotterer jumped from fifth during the daylight to second at night in the No. 32 PIAA Honda NSX, turning a fastest lap of 1:23.915 (98.671 mph)--just 0.103 behind Lyons' 1:23.812 (98.782 mph).
Morio Nitta's first practice session lap of 1:30.204 (91.782 mph) in his No. 43 ARTA Garaiya held up for fast time of the day in the GT300 class.
Qualifying for Saturday evening's GT Live is set for 1:30 p.m. (PST).
