Fastest Lap 61 David Brabham 1'30.822(177.182 km/h) on Lap 2

Starting from pole, Hattori led the race convincingly until lap 4 when he suddenly lost control under braking for the first corner, veered off the track and ended the race in a violent way. Badly shaken although unhurt, Hattori said the McLaren had a brake trouble. The sister car driven by David Brabham and John Nielsen inherited the lead and went all the way to the finish. Without the kind of straightline speed that McLaren has, all Sekiya and de la Rosa could do was to bring their Toyota Supra home in the second place. Wayne Gardner and Alain Ferte of the Sard Supra was much happier than in Suzuka to finish third.

Nissan had a race to forget. Two of the Skylines finished fifth and sixth respectively, both one lap down, while the other two packed up in the pits.

Championship Standings: GT500 Brabham/Nielsen 35, Sekiya/de la Rosa 23, Hattori/Schumacher 20, Hasemi/Tanaka 18, Hoshino/Kageyama 13, Gardner/Ferte 12, Comas/Mitsusada/A.Suzuki/Fukuyama 10, etc.

GT300 K.Suzuki/Nitta 35, Kawasaki/Wakita/Makiguchi/Kinoshita 22, Sodeyama/Nagasaka 20, etc.

Next Race: Sendai, June 29-30
