Michael Krumm qualified the no.2 Nissan Skyline on the front row of the grid, for the final round of the 2000 Autobacs All Japan GT Championship.

The first qualifying session was held in dry conditions and Michael and the Nismo Team worked effectively to get a set-up for the qualifying. Michael then produced a stunning lap to achieve the second slot on the grid with a time of 2'01.983, a scant two hundredths of a second from pole position.

In the second qualifying session, held in cooler afternoon conditions, Michael set a record breaking time of 2'00.204 to take the lead in the fight for pole position. In the last few moments of the qualifying session, the No.100 Honda NSX took the pole from Michael with a time of 1'59.923.

"Today was very good for us, yesterday was full wet, so we had to make the set up and go for the time. It was so close to pole but I just missed it by a couple of hundredths from one of the Hondas in the first session. I had a great lap in the second session and thought that would be pole. When we lost pole I tried to get one more lap from my tyres but it was not possible. It was an exciting fight so now we have to see what tomorrow brings, but we are in good shape." Michael commented
