The race had an aborted start as the Ford of Nicky Pastorelli leaked oil on the grid during the formation lap.

Following a 20-minute delay, the race started behind the safety car with pole-sitter Tin Sritrai leading the way.

The Thai guest driver couldn't pull away from Gleason and James Nash and the trio was soon joined by Stefano Comini.

Sritrai eventually had to give up the lead to Gleason and was immediately under pressure from Comini, who overtook Nash.

An incident soon followed between the duo as Comini sent Sritrai into a spin, for which he later received a drive-through penalty.

However, he did not serve it and, after a short safety car stint due to an incident between yesterday's winner Roberto Colciago and Mikhail Grachev, he crossed the line in second.

He later had 30 seconds added to his time and was only classified 18th.

That promoted Nash into second, the Briton gaining a 17-point lead on the reigning champion as a result.

Gianni Morbidelli completed the podium followed by Dusan Borkovic, who gained two positions on the last lap following contact between Mat'o Homola and Pepe Oriola.

Jean-Karl Vernay and Loris Hezemans also managed to finish ahead of Homola, who dropped down to seventh.

Oriola, on the other hand, only made it home in 13th as Sergey Afanasyev, Andy Yan and Attila Tassi completed the top 10.
