Third in the championship going into the weekend, Bandyopadhyay won ahead of Chinese guest driver Anning Sun, while Sandeep Kumar finished third. Donovan Vaz and Rashad Khan were fourth and fifth respectively.

The safety car was out early in the race with Aditya Pawar and Jeet Jhabakh going off the track, thus providing some tense moments at the Madras Motor Race Track. In fact, the Safety Car was out for almost three laps while the track was being cleared for racing action.

Meanwhile, championship leader Karminder Singh had moved up two slots from his grid position of eighth, even as the cars more or less remained the same at the top of the order.

Soon, Dhruv Mohite had pitted with car problems.

After about three laps, it was back to racing action and Bandyopadhyay was 1.6 seconds ahead. Anning continued to be in the second place, while Sandeep maintained his third position.

Karminder was gaining in the race and had moved up to the fifth position after Mohite's return to the pits.

At the head of the field, Bandyopadhyay was leading Sun by just about 0.6 seconds, while Sandeep was a good 1.4 seconds behind the leader in third place.

In an interesting turn of events, Karminder, who had moved up to the fifth place, suddenly dropped down to the seventh spot.

The top two drivers were a bit close and there was a chance that Sun would challenge Bandyopadhyay for the top spot. But that did not happen and Bandyopadhyay enjoyed a good win.
