Chennai Ameo Cup: Karminder continues to impress with Race 3 win
Karminder Singh did not show any mercy on the rest of the field, notching up another win in the Volkswagen Ameo Cup 2017.
Having won Race 2 on Sunday morning, the Delhi-based driver made light work of the competition to win by 2.9 seconds in Race 3 at the Madras Motor Race Track on Sunday.
Sourav Bandyopadhyay, the first race winner on Saturday, finished second and Dhruv Mohite finished third. Donovan Vaz and Tauhid Anwar took the next two spots.
The Ameo Cup is part of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship
Bandyopadhyay, starting on pole position, was challenged by Karminder for the lead, and the former was 0.329 seconds ahead after the completion of the first lap.
But it was clear that Karminder was a determined man from the start. It was a matter of time before he would overtake Bandyopadhyay. He did that in the very second lap of the race.
With a clear track in front of him, the Delhi-based driver began to push and was just over a second ahead of Bandyopadhyay and third-placed Mohite.
While it was getting difficult to catch up with Karminder, Mohite seemed to be challenging Bandyopadhyay for the second place. However, the Kolkata driver managed to retain his second place.
After eight laps, Karminder continued to hold on to his first place and was 1.7 seconds ahead.
The order did not change much below as well. It was Vaz in the fourth place, followed by Anwar and Sandeep.
As the race wore on, Karminder was only increasing the advantage and after 12 laps, it was a good 2.7 seconds, with Mohite another two seconds behind.
From there, it was a foregone conclusion that Karminder would emerge victorious and take his second win on the day.
