Chennai Vento Cup: Todkari clinches maiden pole

Niranjan Todkari took his maiden pole at the resurfaced Madras Motor Race Track in Round 2 of the season beating Keith Desouza.

The Indian lapped a time of 1m58.767s, the only driver to dip into the 1m58's as he beat Desouza by 0.457s to take his first Vento Cup pole.

Aditya Pawar was third with championship leader Ishaan Dodhiwala only managing fourth, the Hyderabad-based driver was unable to break the two minutes barrier.

Guest driver Sirish Chandran impressed with a top five finish beating the second half of the tied championship leader Karminder Singh.

Behind the top six came the two Chinese drivers Li Huiwei and He Xixi as Amit Mete and Jeet Jhabakh rounded off the top 10.

The incident-free session saw 19 drivers taking part with Eswar Bolisetti missing after he crashed at the back corner in FP2 on Friday damaging his car.
