Reddy buoyed by Vento cup title

Three wins and nine podiums in the four rounds of the inaugural Vento Cup season was enough for Reddy to secure his maiden senior title after winning the junior Polo Cup last year.

"It feels absolutely great to win the championship in my first year in the senior category," said Reddy to Motorsport.com.

"Last year as a junior itself I knew I had the pace as I had qualified on pole in one round and in the top 5 after that.

"So going into this season I was definitely gunning for the title. It is even more awesome as it is the first time the junior champion has won the senior title in the following year," the Hyderabadi added.

It wasn't easy for Reddy as Singh, Dodhiwala and seasoned racer Sailesh Bolisetti kept him on his toes throughout the championship.

"It was a fantastic season, I had several close fought battles with the top 5 drivers, especially Karmindar and Ishaan," he said.

"Karmindar is a great driver and is very aggressive. He definitely did not make it easy for me as he always capitalized on the reverse grid races."

The advantage of competing in international circuits, Bolisetti was always a big threat, to beat him was a success for Reddy.

"Sailesh had the pace throughout the season but I managed to edge him out over the season and I was more familiar with the car, the competition, having managed that feels good too."

Reddy conceded having started late as a competitive racer, but that doesn't deter his motivation to keep at it.

Since childhood, all he had in mind was cars and racing which pushed him to take up racing.

For next year, Reddy is all set to switch to single-seaters competing in the Formula BMW championship (JK Tyre Racing series) as he aims for international exposure from 2017.

He is also expected to compete in the National Racing Championship for the 2016 season.
