In the first race, Singh, having started fifth, was in a duel with Sidharth Balasundaram for the final podium place and managed to find a way through Balasundaram to finish third.

While in Sunday's race, Singh made five places to finish at the top step of the podium after starting sixth as per the reverse grid formation.

At the start, he made up three places to slot himself in third before a brief red flag period and after that he quickly overtook Sahil Gahuri and race leader Vigneshvar Devarajan to take the lead and finish that way.

"Starting sixth on the grid was never going to be easy. I wanted to stay out of any trouble at the start and so kept it cool and came out clean in the first few laps," said the New Delhi-based driver.

"After the race restart, I started making my moves and finally came up on the top by mid-race.

"From there onwards, I kept my concentration high and ensured I maintained an adequate lead to take the chequered flag," Singh added.

Anindith Reddy was the other driver to have finished on podium twice in the weekend with two second place finishes.

"Two second positions for the weekend are great for the championship points," said Reddy.

"However, I am keen for a victory the next time around. The Vento Cup race cars are phenomenal to drive and it has been an amazing weekend."

Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, was pleased with the weekend especially with the "aggressive" action during the second race.

The second race will take place at Kari Motor Speedway from 4th September 201 to 6th September 2015.
